Placenta Encapsulation to Fight “Baby Blues” and to Increase Milk Supply

Have you ever heard of placenta encapsulation? It has been around for thousands of years among the Chinese and Vietnamese to support the healing process of the mother after childbirth.  The placenta is believed to be very rich in nutrients and minerals, such as vitamin B6, iron and protein, and therefore, to posses especial properties to fight depression after birth and to keep up your milk supply.

In my personal experience, I did find that taking my placenta caps after birth helped me to heal faster and to keep my milk supply.  Also, I did not experience any baby blues during or after taking the pills.  One additional benefit of encapsulating your placenta is that you may even freeze it and use it when your first signs of menopause kick in!

Since your placenta is produced by your own body, this is a true holistic postpartum pill that you can take without regrets!!

Coming Across with Hypnobirthing

I have always been very careful about my health.  I try to eat as healthy as possible and I also drag myself to the gym at least three times a week.  When I became pregnant I decided that it was a must to keep up with my healthy food choices and active lifestyle.

Nonetheless, if I was going to start eating  more organic foods and doing prenatal yoga DVDs at home, then why would I get an epidural and other bunch of drugs just at the end of the pregnancy?  Why messing it all up at the end?  That’s how I started researching about natural birth choices and came across with Hypnobirthing.

At the beginning I thought Hypnobirthing was just some Marketed concept to sell you a course and couple of CDs.  My husband was also not supportive about the whole idea of going drugs free through the whole birthing process.  He believed I was too weak to endure such an ordeal.  Nonetheless, by coincidence we met a couple that had just had a baby by following the techniques taught in Hypnobirthing and that is how my husband and I decided to enroll in one course.

The course we attended was a very small class of three couples, all looking forward to learn the techniques that would allow them to attain the birthing they just dreamt about.

In the course we learned visualization, relaxation, and breathing techniques that were the key during labor.  In addition, the course helped us built a closer relationship with our birthing partner by including him/her in the process.  My birthing partner was my husband, and he had to learn relaxation techniques and massage that would help through labor.

In addition to the techniques for birth, in the Hypnobirthing class we were taught a great deal of how the body works during pregnancy and labor.  This was one of my favorite parts of the course as it assured me that nature knows best and that the female body is just engineered to go through it.

I can say I left the course feeling empowered and believing that I was able to have a successful birthing experience.
